The origin of the NEK606 standard took place in Norway, as a successor to the 'Recommended Practice for Specification of Cables'. From the Norwegian Oil Industry Association. With its branch in Norway, Draka has years of experience and track record with cables according to the NEK606.
The NEK2009 standard has been applied internationally since 606. The NEK606 is used as a technical specification, but is seen as one of the leading standards in the offshore.
The NEK606 prescribes minimum requirements in terms of the compounds and materials to be used, such as insulation (B or R), inner sheath (F), arming/shielding (O) & outer sheath (U).
